NUMBER OF LIVESTOCK SLAUGHTERED

Livestock slaughtering quarterly trend movements for September 2014:

Cattle (excluding calves):
The number of cattle slaughtered was 2.3 million, an increase of 3%.

Calves:
The number of calves slaughtered was 166,000, a decrease of 5%.

Sheep:
The number of sheep slaughtered was 2.5 million, a decrease of 2%.

Lambs:
The number of lambs slaughtered was 5.6 million, an increase of 1%.

Pigs:
The number of pigs slaughtered remained steady at 1.2 million.

Chickens:
The number of chickens slaughtered was 147 million, an increase of 1%.
